The Grand Cru Mandelberg is located in Mittelwihr and Beblenheim, it extends over 22 hectares. The vines neighbor with the almond trees gave their name to the hill. The vines grow on clay-sandstone soil with south / south-east exposure, allowing optimal sunshine.
In the vineyard there is a total natural grass; we make a Guyot double Poussard pruning leaving 5 eyes per branch.
Harvesting is done exclusively by hand with a regional team.
The wines from Mandelberg develop a pronounced fruity and a great finesse.
Typical citrus wine, with good minerality and balance.
The Alsatian vineyard came close to apoplexy in early August because of a considerable lack water. But thanks to the storms of August and the exceptional sanitary condition, 2015 vintage will remain in the memories.
The grapes were pressed with a pneumatic membrane press and then fermentation was carried out at a low temperature at 18-20 ° Celsius. After fermentation, the wine was raised on lees for 3 months. Bottled in April 2016.
Nose notes are notes of citrus fruits and grapefruit and bitter orange.
In the mouth, wine of a beautiful minerality and a good balance. Mineral flavors of great length.
